Forget compliments.
We hear a lot of descriptions about self-improvement, ‘’glowing & shining and being the best’’. Of course, comparing development to beautiful things is motivating. But I think the most beautiful and lasting is being yourself.
Being yourself is a great blessing that brings with it a lot of positive and negative things and allows you to get to know yourself. Unfortunately, not everyone can experience the pleasure and freedom of being yourself. If you can do this, you are one of the few people.
Speaking for myself, I am still working on this. I can’t say that I have completely found myself, but I am progressing step by step on the path to being myself and I am proud of my process. There are many things that I have learned while living since I made this decision. For example, I have learned to be clear about what I do not want and what I want. Although it sounds simple, this is a very important development.
You learn these and many other things when you embark on being yourself. The boundaries become clear, the lines become clear and the uncertainties completely decrease. The constant effort to be the best is abandoned. You no longer put yourself in competition with anyone other than yourself. Your only rival is yourself. Meaningless competitions come to an end.
