Narcissistic might be a common pharse that already known by people. As for megalomaniac, 10 times severe because this is power obsessive. When someone strongly wished for power and control, they are willing to justify the means.

Lately, I have been following the news in K-pop about a brand new conglomerate and its conflict with the former CEO of one of its subsidiary companies.

The former CEO planned to seize the subsidiary from the parent company in the most filthy way by dropping the share price and smear campaign through the media. Therefore, they had to sell its subsidiary at a low cost.

Since this is an entertainment company, the media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion. The battle between big corporations and the former CEO of its sub-label gets heated once the artists under the targeted company raise their concerns.

These are her patterns in a working environment and her dealings with the problem.

Self-proclaimed as a genius and talented in the K-pop industry. With her several portfolios in the previous workplace. She is egocentric who can’t see the other’s success and outdo her. Accusing everyone to follow her style, her authenticity, and her every move. It’s a peak of narcissistic behavior. In gen-z terms, she is a PICK ME.

She often degrades her employees and partners. For example, the team handled her artist’s production with dedication and pulled their soul into it. But she’s blatantly taken all the credit for herself while pointing out the others as incompetent and untalented.

She treated the artist as a product that she created. She’s not allowing their artist to shine by themselves without pinning herself on the display as their creator.

Her power in gaslighting and brainwashing which needs more proper credit at this point. How can everyone eat up her lies without fact-checking?

Once she was caught for breach of trust and company espionage, she swayed public opinion by creating an unrelated problem by bringing up the old chat with the chairman about their rival company at the press conference.

It successfully shifted the blame to the chairman instead of focusing on the main case. The way she deals with the conflict is far from professionalism. She treats it like a high school beef while overlooking the most important case.

Ironically, beforehand she uses young artists from another subsidiary company as a scapegoat to support her narrative in ditching the accusation that addressed her. She studied the K-Pop community pretty well. She knew that the plagiarism issue had been circulating among the community, which pinned her artist and this young group, making it easier for her to run the scenario. She uses her group as a shield and plays the victim, blaming the young artist, who barely had a year in this industry.

After her press conference, the narrative heavily changed among the media and the public in general. Make this corporation considered as the evil monster that is ready to squish a helpless ordinary employee.

It’s so good to be a narcissist. They can do crime and gaslight people whenever they get caught. Refuting the allegation by throwing a pity party as if she’s a victim. That’s how she plays the scenario. Sway the public opinion by bringing up something unrelated to the main issue.

Using her artist as a shield while accusing the opponent of mistreatment. She’s the one who isolated and brainwashed the artists into believing that the company is ignoring them.

Her artist got the most resources from the parent company, including connections from their senior in another subsidiary company, who has established their global status.

For her, her artist is being robbed and cheated; meanwhile, another three artists under different subsidiary companies got the worst cyberbully due to her vague statement that led to the vile accusations, including cult and chart manipulation. She refused to apologize even after the media asked her about that.

She and her group wanted to be treated like humans, but she’s throwing the mud on somebody else’s face.

She might be unaware of how her made-up narrative, supported by media and higher-ups in the K-pop industry, will backfire on her and her artist. And again, she will blame the others for this.

All her accusations are a confession of her behavior. She’s paying media to the point of joining a team with one of the consulting companies that handled the PR and navigated the business. Based on her plan that got exposed in the court through the audit. She’s indeed calculating a strategy to ruin the corporation from the inside using media war.

Her power is her connection to the media and her exclusive relationship with one of the journalists who’s currently entered the Democratic Party in South Korea.

Despite her deep connection with some powerful figures who back her up. She’s utilizing the K-Pop community, especially her artist’s fanbase. Spreading the smear campaign toward this corporation and its artists. Framing them as devilish monsters while she and her people get away with all the legal charges.

She’s recklessly used media to hide her crimes. Breach of trust, company espionage, and sexual assault cover-up are still under investigation.

Her manipulative tendency could control everyone’s mind and how they react to her. Victim blaming is how she protects herself without facing the consequences.

Currently, she pushed her artist to the front line of her defense. They were strongly against the parent company that had invested in them and demanded returning the CEO position to her.

There are no manners and professionalism in this case. Especially the given ultimatum from the artist to the parent company who sneakily created their YouTube channel and did live streaming.

However, they help this corporation’s job in gathering more evidence to prove their stance about their ex CEO.

Public opinion is split into two. Pro her and Pro the artist under the corporate, which is the real victim in this whole drama. No matter how hard her side is screaming mistreatment, the one who got screwed and harassed is the artist that she targeted, not those who made up the scenario only to get out without paying the penalty.

They attended the National Assembly to do an audit about workplace bullying while that country has to deal with the bigger issue, but the lawmakers do nothing and use this drama to boost their popularity.

Regular employees are dying out there, yet justice can’t prevail because the lawmakers don’t know the priority. The whole audit was also pretty biased and only scolded the new CEO. They can’t even let her explain herself.

This is also a reminder for any businesspeople to be more selective and carefully short out the candidates to enter your company. The portfolio might be shining, but we never know what’s behind it.

Also, there is no win-win solution in fighting with a narcissistic and megalomaniac who is just greedy for money and power. They are about to risk it all only to fulfill their goals, even if it requires ruining their people’s lives, they will go for it anyway.
