When iPhone was first released, the media coined it Phone Jesus. Phone Jesus has lived up to its name and mastered the people’s souls.
First thing in the morning, we check our social media, messages and emails by our smart phones. Last thing at night, we kiss our master phones good night.
My First Legal Job — A Modern Slave to TWO iPhones
When I started as a trainee solicitor, the firm gave me an extra phone — an iPhone 7, the newest model back then.
I took it as a perk and was quite happy.
I could not be more wrong. Parters, senior associates, and clients expect me to always return or messages within 15 minutes on a working day and within an hour in weekends.
As a result, I was never offline, both literally and figuratively. I was too busy to sleep or get sick, but I was never fully awake or healthy. I met friends and families half-heartedly. Time flied and I was not really living. I wasted two years in the iPhone 7 — two years I will never get back.
The new iPhone 7 became my master. I served it day and night.
