5 ways to be start being consistent. | by Aishwarya J | Aug, 2024 | Medium
The first step in your endeavor to become consistent is to be in the right mindset. Be mentally prepared to put in the work repeatedly until you achieve your goal. When you have the ability to control your mind, you can achieve everything. That can only happen when you step out of your comfort zone and strengthen your will power. Visualizing the bigger picture will motivate your actions.
To define your goal, you must have a crystal-clear vision of what you want to achieve. Reflect on why this goal is important for you. Your goal can be exercising daily, advancing in your career or developing a healthy eating habit. It can even be on the personal front- to have a successful relationship with your loved ones. The goal must be realistic and achievable. It should not be something so complex that it is difficult to feel motivated.
Once you have your goal set, create a roadmap. Don’t be afraid of the work ahead of you. Break it into small and doable tasks. Prepare a specific schedule of daily or weekly tasks that you have to complete. Reserve specific time each day to complete the tasks.
Apart from knowing what to do, you should also know what not to do. Since you are on a time-bound road map, you should learn to prioritize your tasks. Drop the tasks which are irrelevant to your aim.
Also, don’t forget to allot time for breaks, so that you do not over-exert yourself.
When you do things consistently, you produce streamlined data. That data helps you to track your progress. You notice how far you have gotten in the game. You get a sense of purpose. Analytics help you to change your road map according to your progress. The data helps you predict the outcome, which in turn takes you closer to your goals.
No one is perfect. Mistakes are part and parcel of life. Bounce back from the mistake and create a strategy to avoid the same in the future. If you fail once, try again. Don’t give up.
