Being your own boss is highly overrated by those who work 9-to-5.
If you tell someone that you are self-employed and your own boss, they will likely picture freedom, wealth, and endless free time.
And indeed, it may sound cool to say:
“Hey, I’m my own boss, nobody tells me what to do. I can do whatever I want.”
But that’s not how it is.
The hardest lesson I’ve learned from being my own boss is this:
If you are your own boss, you have to be the hardest boss ever.
You can’t accept any excuses.
Sick? Lazy? Want to party? Depressed?
Go stand in front of a mirror and tell yourself.
Look yourself in the eyes and explain why you can’t work now.
Because if you don’t work, nobody will.
Nobody will come and say:
“It’s okay, lean back, I will do it for you.”
That’s just not going to happen.
The moment you realize that you’re responsible for everything, you understand that this is not going to be easy.
And by everything, I mean everything.
Marketing, sales, fulfillment, development, etc.
