My goal this month was to write and publish a story a day. I haven’t done that but I’m not far off.
This is my 21st piece this month, August 2024. I have written and published 67 pieces. I deleted one when I realized I had submitted it to a competition with a can’t be published elsewhere condition.
What have I learned? That I’ve much to learn about my writing and myself as a writer.
None of my pieces has hit the stratosphere. My most popular piece, ‘My Dead Friend Talked to Me’, was written quickly and without much thought in July. It was the most viewed and read story in July and August. It has 67 views, 42 reads, 14 responses and 907 claps so far.
Every story has had views, 6 have had no reads. These are short pieces and were my first stories published.
I have written 10 articles about children’s rights or education. ‘What I Would Have Liked to Have Learned Earlier in My Teaching Career’ is the most popular of these. My personal favourite, with 18 views and 4 reads, is ‘Why We Don’t Need Children to Sell Cars’.
I have written 10 short fiction stories. My favourite of these is ‘Puppynomics’.
