FASCINATING ASPECT IN ECDYSIS.
(*For sensitivity purposes, I will not use an actual ecdysis picture; as much as I would have loved to.)
Now I know the thought of snakes is not everyone’s cup of tea [or coffee depending on your taste] but ecdysis in snakes holds a fascinating aspect. Ecdysis, is where snakes shed off their old skin in one piece. This helps accommodate growth and to remove parasites or any damage affecting their skin’s outer layer. In layman’s it means shedding off their old skin allows snakes to grow and maintain healthy skin.
I will spare you any more jargon, biology class was draining enough. So enough with the snakes. Let’s talk about something more palatable. You. Like the reptiles, you cannot envelope yourself in the old skin forever. It hinders growth. It harbors parasites and a lot of damage that brings us more harm than good.
Snakes shed off their skin at least 4 times a year. Sometimes all it takes is realizing just the opportune moment to shed off the old skin. To shed off and leave it in the past. To let go. And focus on the new skin. Focus on the next step, on growth.
Letting go is hard. It’s hard because it means shedding off a part of yourself. Shedding off and walking away. I mean, snakes don’t hold on to some part of their skin. They shed all of it and grow a whole new skin. That’s super impressive. Letting go fully not partially. Letting go and moving on from the old skin and focusing solely on the new skin. The new you.
Do not hold on to the old skin that is hindering your growth. Shedding off might be hard, uncomfortable, painful even. But the thought of growing a whole new skin, free from parasites is motivating. Bring yourself to shed off the old skin. It’s a small process and the results are definitely worth it.
