I published an article titled “You Ugly & Why You Cain’t Do Nun ‘Bout It.” It was supposed to be satirical. I tried to pull reverse psychology — like the reason you’re ugly is because you believe it, therefore rendering you unglow-upable. It was lame so I unpublished then deleted it, lol.

Then I was going to talk about my disbelief in aliens… but it got boring after I wrote the title.

I guess the only thing I know to write is that I don’t know what to write. We live in a world where new ideas are popping up every day, everywhere, and every time we turn toward anything with a screen. So how can anyone not know what to create when creativity is constant?

The answer is in the question.

Constant creativity is often intimidating to new ideas and perspectives. The truth is that everyone who writes on here hopes that they’re producing something — anything — of unique and unmatched value. Especially if they’re apart of the Partner Program. It’s intimidating because your words may have already been said before (like years before) by another writer and have gone into syndication thereafter. It’s intimidating because what if nobody wants to read what you have to say amidst the second-ly, minute-ly, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly cycle of creativity?

We find ourselves in a battle of the bass.

The bass sound is the foundation for music, driving rhythm and providing balance. Without them, music has no depth or richness and suffers from frequency imbalance. For my readers, we know how fast we can finish a book (or article) if it lacks those essential, well-rounding qualities. By “a battle for the bass”, I mean we become conflicted with wanting to play the high notes — producing work that is sure to be noticed regardless of interest or a lack thereof — while using our bass instruments. Instruments that have been used before.

I use “we” with the expectation that others will read this and relate. At least one (hopefully two). I use “we” because I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way. I’m not the first person to give language to this either (and probably not the last). But I know I really mean “I”. With regard to music, it’s not about what you play, it’s how you play it. Therefore, it’s not about what you write, it’s how you write.

And I know how to write.
